A sailor on a large cargo ship is good at his job but is also a philanderer and a rogue. Numerous shore leaves create complicated situations with women until the higher-ups decide that the sailor needs to settle down with a wife.

Charming journalist Eva is brought on board in the hopes that the sailor will become attached to her. Things are going well until a stowaway turns up on board: Marylou from the Shark Bar has pursued the sailor to his home turf. When both women find out what's going on, they team up against the men. In the end, both the sailor and his captain land in the safe harbor of marriage.

This musical comedy features pop star Frank Schöbel in his first major film role.
