Synopsis

A documentary portrait of the young Bertolt Brecht. This film shows how the early years shaped the personality that became one of Germany’s most famous writers and poets. Schober’s documentary is concerned with the environment of Brecht’s upbringing that galvanized his rebellious spirit and artistic production. Schober locates Brecht’s early life in Augsburg, Munich, and Berlin, and he emphasizes the life-long circle of friends, who were also located in these important place, as an important part of Brecht’s creative process.
