Synopsis
This film explains the historic basis for the friendship between East Germany and the Soviet Union, with examples of how these close ties shape various domains of life, including culture, economy, research, architecture, and education. The filmic narrative is framed by performances of the Alxandrov Ensemble (the song and dance ensemble of the Soviet army), whose first appearance on stage in Berlin in 1948 served as an early herald of what would become 25 years of cooperation and solidarity between the two countries.
