1. The planned city of Eisenhüttenstadt was designed as a model socialist city with a large iron works. The mayor and the large Kess family talk about new policies designed to improve living conditions, especially for families with children.

2. General Secretary Erich Honecker tours construction sites and speaks to assembled construction workers and engineers about the goal of building more new residential units.
