Synopsis

"For me, running is like music." East German marathon runner Waldemar Cierpinski was a two-time Olympic gold medalist and was also voted the GDR's most popular athlete of the year twice. His passion for running began when he was a small child, helping his handicapped father and seven siblings complete chores quickly. In this documentary he looks back on his athletic career and races covering more than 85,000 total miles. His reflections and stories, told with striking humility and philosophical depth, are visually paired with biographical images.
