Princess My hears a beautiful flute melody coming from the river. She longs to meet the musician, whom she imagines to be a rich and handsome young man. When the fisherboy Truong Chi appears before her and reveals himself as the real flute player, the princess does not respond well. Her actions lead to the boy's death and by the time she regrets her mistake, it is already too late.
