Synopsis

The film provides an unusual potrait of the great humanist, doctor, Protestant theologist and philosopher Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965). By tracing several stations of Schweitzer's life, the film allows viewers to understand his decision to live out his concern for his fellow humans by founding a jungle hospital in Africa.

The documentary also features interviews with two of his contemporaries who discuss their own views and opinions with regard to their job and volunteer work, as well as current political and social problems.
