On July 11, 1982, all the residents of an East Berlin apartment building are watching West Germany play Italy in the World Cup finals. 

A distracted soccer fan receives an unexpected visit in response to a personal ad. A wife is locked out of her apartment because her husband can't hear her knocking over the game and takes refuge by a neighbor. A former football star's widow recalls old memories as she watches the game with a cantakerous old friend on her new color TV. A Chilean emigrant experiences homesickness knowing that his family is watching back home. And a young divorced couple grow closer to each other when he asks her if he can watch the game on her TV.

This episodic film brings together five stories about personal relationships taking place simultaneously in different apartments during the 90-minute match.
