Effective Monday, March 16, 2020 and until further notice, the Dean of Students Office and Student Conduct and Community Standards Office staff will be working with students/families and consulting with faculty and staff remotely in response to the university's COVID-19 announcements and guidance.

 

  • The Dean of Students Office and Student Conduct and Community Standards Office will maintain operations and services. There will be no staff on-site in Whitmore Administration Building or Thoreau Hall. Staff will be available to work with students/families and consult with faculty and staff via phone, web conference or email.  This may mean a delayed response to your inquiries but know we are doing our best to respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Our hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on official holidays. 
  • Meetings will continue to be scheduled, but will be conducted over the phone or via Zoom (Zoom is an accessible video conferencing tool available at https://umass-amherst.zoom.us/.)
  • Many services will not be affected by remote services; however, there will be adjustments/delays to the following services:
    • Short Term Loans
    • Microgrants
    • Student Care Supply Closet
    • Clearances/Dean Certifications/Landlord Reference Requests

Dean of Students Office

  • Student Support Request & Referral - Students requesting assistance or third party referring a student for assistance.

  • Phone: Although discouraged at this time as responses will be delayed, you may call the Dean of Students Office at 413-545-2684 and leave a voicemail with your name, phone number, student ID. Staff will be checking voicemail remotely periodically. If you are already working with a staff member, you are encouraged to email them directly. Staff can address any questions you may have and/or schedule a time for you to meet via phone or Zoom.
     

Student Conduct and Community Standards Office

  • Student Conduct Referral - To report incidents of alleged Code of Student Conduct violations.

Staff can address any questions you may have and/or schedule a time for you to meet via phone or Zoom.
