How can you design your syllabus as a pathway of learning through the course? How can you use it to set the tone for the course, positively shape the class climate, and build a sense of community, respect, and mutual support? How can you communicate your intentions for teaching with empathy and compassion? Join this session to learn about some principles of an inclusive syllabus design that help set the stage for creating a positive learning environment. The presenters will provide examples that illustrate how these principles can be applied to the (re)design of your syllabus. Make sure to have your own syllabus on hand. You will have 30 minutes during the session to apply what you learn directly to revising and workshopping parts of your syllabus.
