Join colleagues from across campus to explore José Antonio Bowen and C. Edward Watson’s, Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning.
Whether you're curious, cautious, or concerned about generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in education, this reading circle welcomes faculty at all levels of AI familiarity – from those just beginning to consider its implications to those already experimenting with GenAI in their teaching.
Meeting Options
Kirsten Helmer will offer two different groups, an in person series meeting in the CTL Conference Room and a fully online series through Zoom. Choose which of these options work for you.

Participants will be provided with a copy of this book. The book is also accessible as an ebook and audiobook through the UMass Library
Additionally, all participants will be invited to join a special session with book author C. Edward Watson who will be visiting our campus on March 6, 2025.
The reading circle will explore the book's key themes: Thinking with AI, teaching with AI, and learning with AI. Together, we'll examine AI's impact on education, share experiences, and address questions and concerns in a collaborative environment.
Mei Yau-Shih Speaker Series
Offered as part of the inaugural Mei Yau-Shih Speaker Series and in association with an invited keynote presentation to be given by C. Edward Watson Vice President for Digital Innovation at the American Association of Colleges and Universities and author of the leading higher education publication on, Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning. Dr. Watson’s invited lecture will be given at 4 pm on Thursday March 6, 2025 and he will also attend a special session for the participants in the Reading Circles.
