SoTL Foundations: Understanding “What Works” in My Teaching
Please note this event occurred in the past.

CTL Conference Room (W.E.B. Du Bois Library, 714)
“What works in my teaching?” Scholarship of Teaching and Learning investigators are often driven by this question (Hutchings, 2000). But how do we, as scholars, determine what works? Look at grades or exam scores? Student sense of belonging? Student perceptions of how much they learned? What are other ways to explore how students learn and are successful in our classrooms?
Through time-saving decisions, you can complete a small SoTL project that provides actionable and shareable insight into student learning in your course.
Join us for an interactive session, with snacks, coffee, and tea, to explore:
- the basics of SoTL research;
- different sources of evidence of learning;
- approaches to making sense of that evidence;
- ethical considerations.
