Join us for a practical, one-hour workshop designed to help instructors navigate emerging AI-related challenges mid-semester. This session focuses specifically on actionable assignment tweaks and policy adjustments you can implement right now when your current approach isn't working as expected.

Facilitated by Dan Cannity (IDEAS) and Kirsten Helmer (CTL), this interactive session addresses the real-time challenges instructors are encountering as the semester progresses. Whether you're creating or revising your AI policy, wondering what to do if you suspect unauthorized AI use, or finding that your permitted AI integration is creating unexpected complications, this session offers insights, options, and connections with support to get through it.

What We'll Cover:

Quick Policy Clarifications: Strategies for clarifying AI expectations when students seem confused or are testing boundaries

Assignment Modifications: Immediate tweaks to reduce inappropriate AI use while preserving learning objectives

Addressing Misuse: Practical responses when you suspect students are using AI in non-permitted ways

Troubleshooting Permitted Use: Solutions when allowed AI integration isn't working as planned

Communication Strategies: Language for mid-semester announcements and clarifications to students

The session emphasizes practical problem-solving with time for sharing challenges and collaborative troubleshooting.

We encourage participants to bring specific situations they're currently facing—there will be time for targeted advice and peer consultation. These mid-semester insights can also inform your planning for future semesters.

Co-facilitated by the Center for Teaching & Learning and IDEAS.
