Is This Cheating? Rethinking Academic Honesty with Generative AI
Join us for the spring semester kickoff of our Generative AI (GenAI) Discussion Group, an interactive session where we’ll move beyond simple pro/con debates to explore the nuanced relationship between academic integrity and AI in education. Grounded in insights from the facilitator's recent critical AI literacy project, the workshop combines experiential learning with collaborative discussion to examine assumptions about knowledge production, authorship, and creativity.
You’ll be introduced to contemporary AI literacy frameworks and consider how these approaches can enhance student learning in supportive educational environments. Through a hands-on activity with guided reflection, we'll begin to chart intentional pathways for navigating GenAI in education.
Rather than offering simple answers, this session creates space to expand our collective understanding of how GenAI reshapes traditional ideas of knowledge creation and academic integrity, and invites meaningful, ongoing dialogue about its role in teaching and learning.
Please be prepared and have open and ready a GenAI platform of your choice (i.e., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini).
