About CTL

The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) supports the professional development of faculty across all career stages and disciplines with programs and resources focused on student-centered teaching, course and curriculum design, intercultural competency, scholarly writing, and more. CTL focuses on Teaching Development .

CTL has a long history on the University of Massachusetts Amherst campus that reaches back to the formation of the Lilly Teaching Fellows Program in 1986. Since then, the office has won two Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Grants (2007 & 2010) and two Innovation Awards from the Professional and Organizational Development Network (2007, 2002), has been named one of the top four Model Faculty Development Programs in the U.S. and Canada (2006), and has received the Hesburgh Award for Faculty Development to Enhance Undergraduate Teaching and Learning (2000).
