Special Topics- Strategies for Governing

PUBP&ADM 597SG

Why is it so hard to run a country, and why is American politics so fraught today? This course examines the strategies that are used by national leaders to achieve national security, internal order, prosperity and security. We consider why strategy-making is difficult, and the processes by which leaders design, implement and revise their strategies for governing. We begin with a comparative and historical view of the subject, and end with a focus on challenges in modern-day American governance.
