We’re glad your student will be joining us this fall! We invite you to connect with Center for Counseling and Psychological Health (CCPH) during Parent and Family New Student Orientation (NSO) sessions, and to familiarize yourself with these resources before your student arrives on campus:
Find answers to common questions about CCPH programs and services.
If your student received treatment for a mental health condition while in high school or before, make a plan for supporting their mental wellbeing as they transition to and attend college.
CCPH providers are a diverse group of professionals with a wide range of clinical backgrounds and interests.
These resources can assist you in accessing non-UMass affiliated mental healthcare.
Center for Counseling and Psychological Health (CCPH) invites you to Thursday Chats, where students and families can discuss the transition of mental health care upon arriving to college. CCPH staff clinicians will be available during Thursday Chats for answering questions, and helping families and students plan in advance for this transition. UMass’ confidential counseling services include 24/7 crisis intervention, short-term psychotherapy for individuals and couples, free workshops, therapy groups, psychological assessment, behavioral medicine, psychiatric services, outreach, and more. While many mental health needs can be met at CCPH, some students may benefit from community based supports. All families will have an opportunity to be oriented to CCPH services through the Campus Health and Wellbeing presentation at NSO in July. If students/families can’t attend, our staff clinicians remain available outside of this space to answer any questions about transitioning mental health care. If you are having trouble scheduling, call CCPH at 413-545-2337.
