Laurie Bryan

Position at CCPH: Doctoral Psychology Intern

Year joined UMass: This is my first year at UMass Amherst (2019), however I am also a UMass Dartmouth alumnus (2011-2015) and former UMassD Counseling Center Advanced Practicum Student (2017-2018)

Clinical Interests: Military and Veteran Psychology, Young Adult and College Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma. I enjoy working through a humanistic and collaborative lens, often using motivational interviewing and CBT techniques

Education: Currently pursuing Clinical Psychology Doctorate (Psy.D.) at William James College. Completed M.A. in Professional Psychology from William James College (2017) and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (2015)

Professional Experience: Individual and group psychotherapy and psychological assessment experience in college counseling, community mental health, a substance use treatment facility, and middle and high school settings. I have worked with diverse individuals across the lifespan. Throughout graduate school, I have concentrated in military and veteran psychology with the intention of working with veterans and college students in my future career

More about me: In my free time I enjoy fantasy, science fiction, dystopian, and post-apocalyptic novels and video games. I enjoy when these interests appropriately present themselves in my clinical work as stories/lore are often amazing tools at processing and deepening our understanding of ourselves. Throughout this academic year, I also hope to learn how to play my first instrument, the harp, and pick up indoor rock climbing
