Jacob Oyer, MD
Lead Psychiatrist

About
Clinical Interests: In addition to the joys of learning and making new friends, there can be some real ups and downs for students facing performance pressure, social challenges, and changes in life stage during their time in college and grad school. I'm honored to get to know my clients, including the unique identity and history each brings to our community. Psychiatry at CCPH is about celebrating wins and working through challenges. I hope to lend students some light when they need it.
Education: MD, Tufts University School of Medicine; BA in Philosophy, Brown University
Professional Experience: My training and subsequent work experience has involved psychotherapy and psychopharmacology in outpatient, inpatient and partial hospital settings for both children and adults. I completed UMass-Baystate Psychiatry Residency program in 2018, after which I worked as a staff psychiatrist here at UMass-Amherst's Center for Counseling and Psychological Health until 2022. Having recently completed a couple more years at Baystate Medical Center's Adult Outpatient clinic, inpatient treatment unit, and hospital consultation service, I've returned to UMass in the role of lead psychiatrist.
Certifications/Licenses: Licensed Physician, Commonwealth of MA; Board Certified in Psychiatry, American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology
More About Me: I spend a lot of time with friends and family. Among other things, I enjoy winter sports, home improvement projects, playing music, and smooshing my dog's adorable face.
