Insurance and Client Billing

Most students at UMass Amherst taking five or more credits are paying for access to a variety of mental health services, including campus workshops and presentations, outreach events, staff and student training, on call consultation and assessment, group psychotherapy, and brief individual therapy.

Billing for Routine Services

Students seen for more than four individual or eight group psychotherapy sessions will have visits billed to their primary health insurance and will be responsible for any deductibles, co-insurance, and co-pays.

CCPH clinicians work with many insurance carriers, including:

  • Aetna
  • Allways
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
  • Health New England
  • Tricare/Humana
  • Tufts
  • Unicare/GIC
  • United Healthcare

Students enrolled in the university sponsored Student Health Benefit Plan (SHBP), can find more information about mental health benefits here.

Psychiatric and Psychological Assessment Services

All psychiatric medication visits are billed to primary insurance and are subject to any deductible requirements.

Psychological assessments (testing visits) for Learning Disabilities and/or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder are billed to primary insurance and are subject to any deductible, co-insurance, and copay requirements.

Students should contact their primary insurance carriers for any questions regarding their plan deductible and other information about the terms and conditions of their coverage.
