Dear Student,
We very much look forward to having you start the academic year later this month. As you know, last week we made the difficult decision to shift our plans for the fall and limit access to the campus in an effort to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19. We recognize that this may have caused a difficult shift in your plans and we know that you have questions. We are writing to invite you, as well as your family, to participate in an upcoming live Virtual Campus Forum with Chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy and members of his team.
There will be two sessions conducted via Zoom.
- Students who will be attending classes remotely and not be accessing the campus are invited to join us on Thursday, Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m. To reserve your seat for this session, please register in advance. We have also arranged for the event to be viewed live on a dedicated Livestream website.
- Students who will be living on campus and/or have essential campus access are invited to join us on Friday, Aug. 14 at 3:30 p.m. To reserve your seat for this session, please register in advance. This event may also be viewed live on our dedicated Livestream website.
We have received hundreds of emails and phone calls since the announcement and will draw from those questions as well as from questions posed to a moderator during the live event. Topics will include what the reopening plan means and why we changed course; testing, isolation and quarantine plans and protocols; support for remote student learning and student success; and the UMass Amherst Agreement.
We look forward to connecting with you as we begin a new academic year.
