The Organization of Graduate Students in Comparative Literature would like to invite you to the screening of "Spaces of Exception," which will be followed by a Q&A with co-director Matt Peterson, on the 7th of April, at 4:00p.m. in the ILC, room S240.

“Spaces of Exception” is a film by Matt Peterson and Malek Rasamny that juxtaposes the conditions of Palestinians in refugee camps in Lebanon and the West Bank and Indigenous Americans on reservations in the United States of America. In a dialogical fashion, the filmmakers discuss the ways in which state-sanctioned oppression is enacted in these contexts, addressing systemic injustices and also pointing out pathways for solidarity between the marginalised. The film addresses settler colonialism from the standpoint of its victims and demonstrates its long term effects on the target population and the environment.
