In the beginning of their second year, in consultation with the Graduate Program Director, students select the chair of the M.A. committee, who then becomes their primary adviser. The committee chair and the candidate then select the rest of the committee, which consists of at least three members of the graduate faculty: at least two from the Program of Comparative Literature (one of whom must be a specialist in Translation Studies) and at least one from another department. The committee must include a member who is expert in the literature of the student's primary concentration.
