Noor Habib’s research interests include translation, modern Urdu poetry, and twentieth century Indo-Persian literary exchange. Research for her dissertation has been supported by the American Institute of Pakistan Studies and the Graduate School at UMass. Previously, she taught for the Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies program at LUMS, Lahore (2020-22). Apart from her doctoral work, she is co-translating a representative selection of poetry by Miraji, tentatively titled Oblivion and Eternity Within Me. These translations of and reflections on Miraji’s Urdu poetry have appeared in The Paris Review, The Journal of Postcolonial Writing, and the Asymptote Journal. This translation project has recently received the PEN/Heim translation grant.
