Nahla Khalil
Senior Lecturer, Director of LLC Arabic Language Program
Nahla Khalil is a senior lecturer in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. She received her PhD in literature and literary theory from Ain Shams University in Egypt. Before joining LLC at UMass, Nahla was a visiting scholar in the Department of English at UMass during her PhD and taught at Amherst College as a post-doctoral fellow. Nahla has received several awards including grants from the Institute of International Education, the Fulbright Foundation and the Five Colleges Inc. She is a two-time recipient of Five College Innovative Language Teaching Award to develop teaching materials for blended language classes. She has served as a guest editor and is a contributing editor of Metamorphoses (The Five College Journal of Literary Translation). Nahla’s research interests include Arabic and Arab-American literatures, literary theory, migration literature and literary translation.
