Ilse Meiler

Ilse (she/her/hers) is a first-generation American originally from northern Colorado. She holds a B.A. from Smith College in Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies, and Chemistry. Prior to joining UMass, she taught secondary French in Colorado. She is interested in Translation Studies with a particular focus on mid-20th century Soviet literature. She enjoys reflecting on etymology and the political power of language. Aside from English, her working languages include French, Spanish, and Russian.
