Ana Júlia is a first year Ph.D. student in the UMass Communication Program. She has a Master’s degree in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art from Federal University of Ouro Preto where she defended her thesis “Milan Kundera: art and philosophy in the novel – a reading of “the unbearable lightness of being”. She also holds a Bachelor degree in International Relations from Federal University of Uberlândia where she defended her monography “Existentialist crisis and postmodernity and its discontents: Sartre and Bauman in comparative perspective”.


Film studies with an emphasis on allegorical, fantastic narratives and folklore tales; philosophy of communication and feminist studies.


She is a co-author in a chapter of a Brazilian book along with her former teacher, Marrielle Ferreira.
