Alumni Career Night 2019

Five graduates of the Communication program at UMass Amherst returned to campus on October 24, 2019, to offer career guidance to current students. These alumni, representing Comm graduates, gathered in the Communication Hub on the third floor of the ILC and shared their career paths and journeys with Comm majors. We invite you to learn more about these terrific alums who so generously provided career counseling and support to our students:


Lee FelixZachary Borrelli '18

Zachary is the associate director of ISCTV (International Sound Corporation Television). Zach’s primary responsibilities include directing live simulcasts, coordinating graphics and replays, camera operations, and video switching. While directing his team, he communicates with the head of racing as well as the judges to respond to requests regarding the live races.  

Danielle HechtFadjanie Cadet '14

Fadjanie graduated from UMass Amherst and immediately began an accelerated one-year MBA program at Providence College. Shortly thereafter, she started a career in human resources and has worked as a HR business partner responsible for recruiting, performance management, learning and development as well as employee relations and engagement. Currently, Fadjanie works as a manager on the Talent Operations Projects & Programs team at Wayfair, partnering across the talent department to manage talent processes, tools, technology, and knowledge management. While at UMass, Fadjanie was a management and communication double major, was the president of SoulTV, and also a part of the EY Partners in Education RAP.

George LentzJessica Gindelsky '18

Jessica currently works as a consultant at IBM, within its Global Business Services division. At IBM, Jessica is in a two-year rotational program, and works on client sites every week. Before starting at IBM, Jessica worked as a communications assistant for the Commonwealth Honors College and has had a few other campus jobs as well, including a semester working for the Office of News and Media Relations. Jessica has also had experience as an intern at a pharmaceutical company, within its corporate communications and investor relations team.

Jamie ManningChristine McHugh Sirard '90

Christine has been the assistant director of the UMass Amherst Minuteman Marching Band (UMMB), serving as color guard director and visual coordinator, since 2015. She previously worked as color guard instructor for the UMMB from 1990-1995. As a UMass student, Chris joined the UMMB in 1988, and became color guard captain in 1989 before graduating in 1990. Chris taught the color guard at the University of South Carolina where she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Education, with a concentration in early childhood music development. She has taught early childhood music in California and Minnesota, and elementary general music classes in Virginia and Massachusetts. She moved back to Amherst in 2013 and happily resumed working with the UMass guard. She lives in Amherst with her family, and teaches early childhood music classes in the area.

Meghan OresteMikaela Momot '17

Mikaela graduated from UMass Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in public health and communication in 2017, and with her master’s in public health in 2018. She currently works as a health communication associate at CommunicateHealth, a health literacy consulting firm in Northampton. At CommunicateHealth, she has worked with many different clients, ranging from Cooley Dickinson Hospital, to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services).
