The Department of Communication is accepting applications for a full-time Lecturer in writing/composition and speech. Of particular interest are candidates grounded in rhetoric and composition. We are looking for a candidate with experience in teaching writing and/or public speaking from a social science and/or humanities perspective. We are especially interested in candidates with innovative approaches to teaching writing and public speaking and those who emphasize both skill-building and engaged citizenship, including but not limited to critical pedagogies.
The initial appointment is for one academic year. The position will begin on Sept. 1, 2024, with the potential for reappointment contingent upon funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Requirements
The candidate is expected to have a PhD in Rhetoric, English, Communication or related field at the time of appointment. The job will include teaching sections of a university-required, department-specific junior year writing course and an elective public speaking course, plus supervising graduate student instructors of these courses.
