Larrisa (Larri) Miller, PhD student in the Department of Communication, has been invited to participate in Researching Radicalism: A Workshop in Theories and Methods at Northeastern University, March 22 & 23, 2024.
The workshop draws together leading anthropologists and scholars working in and on radicalized communities to discuss how they can reshape the trajectory of, support, and expand anthropological studies of radicalized communities. Many scholars who study radicalism do so through critical media discourse or political analysis. Anthropologists may study radicalism by living (in person and digitally) with communities for extended periods of time to analyze these radicalized worlds. This work can be precarious, dangerous, and filled with both immense possibilities for social impact and ethical dilemmas.
Miller brings her interest and experience in exploring world view formation using a blend of computational methods alongside digital ethnography. She was also awarded an Emerging Scholar Award by Northeastern as part of the workshop participation.
