The Communication department will host Dr. Mark Aakhus on Friday, April 18 at 1:30 p.m. in the Communication Hub, where he will give a talk titled "Arguing with Aliens – AI as a puzzle of communication for argumentation.”
Aakhus, a professor and Associate Dean for Research for the Department of Communication at Rutgers University, investigates the relationship among communication, argumentation, and design in digital society. His scholarship explains how ideas about the design of communication and argumentation are consequential for professional conduct, organizational processes, and information infrastructures.
Aakhus recently co-authored the award-winning book "Argumentation in Complex Communication," which received the Distinguished Book Award from the National Communication Association. He also previously co-edited the pioneering "Perpetual Contact: Mobile Communication, Private Talk, Public Performance.”
