PhD Candidate Diana Kasem has contributed an article to the "ARABOFUTURS" exhibition at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. Her piece, titled “Arab Science Fantasy ‘khayāl Ilmi’ in Twentieth Century Cinema,” is featured in both the exhibition and the accompanying book, which is available on the institute’s website. Kasem visited the museum to experience the exhibition firsthand.
"ARABOFUTURS" showcases the work of over 20 video artists, visual artists, and performers who explore new perspectives, redefine identities, and offer innovative possibilities. The exhibition aims to reveal the aesthetic, intellectual, and narrative richness of science fiction within the Arab world and its diasporas.
In addition to the visual and performative works, the project includes current research on science fiction and new narratives in Arab art. Researchers and academics fluent in French, English, and Arabic, specializing in social sciences, linguistics, literature, cinema, and visual arts, have contributed texts that illuminate this dynamic trend in contemporary Arab culture.
