Aamaya Guzman has been named this year’s winner of the Elaine E. Nord Internship Fund for Creative Communications. Ms. Guzman is a Communication major, scheduled to graduate in Spring 2025. This internship funding opportunity is made available through the generous donation of Elaine E. Nord ‘81, a UMass Amherst alumna who majored in Communication. It is designed to support a Communication major's summer internship in production or creative communications. Ms. Guzman is excited to put her classroom work to practice, “As a student majoring in Communication, I am eager to apply the knowledge I have gained in the classroom to the real-world.”

Ms. Guzman will spend the summer at Real Career Revolution as a Social Media Management intern. One of the primary areas she will focus on during this internship is media production, “This hands-on experience will allow me to hone my skills in content creation for various social media platforms,” says Guzman, “ I will learn how to use various tools and software to edit and enhance visuals and will gain valuable insights into content optimization techniques to measure the performance of our campaigns.”

The internship experience will be invaluable to her career goals and invite her to build a strong portfolio showcasing social media skills, media production, and experience in a communication centered work environment while enhancing her competitiveness in the digital marketing and communications job market. This work will match Ms. Nord’s desire to support students working to create media content.

Guzman is also thrilled to work at a small-business start-up. “I am eager to contribute to the business’s growth, learn and bridge the gap between theory and practice, and leverage this experience to pave the way for a successful career in social media management.” She says, “Immersing myself in a small business setting will also provide valuable exposure to entrepreneurship and leadership. Ultimately, this internship presents a fantastic opportunity for skill development in media production, aligning perfectly with my academic and career aspirations.” Upon completion of her summer internship, Guzman will spend the fall semester on domestic exchange, studying in Hawaii, before returning to Amherst to complete her degree and graduate in Spring 2025.
