Prof. Briankle Chang and doctoral candidate Zach McDowell announce the publication of the latest issue of communication + 1, an open-source journal for which they serve as editor-in-chief and managing editor, respectively. The theme of the guest-edited issue is "Afterlives of Systems."

Prof. Leda Cooks has been selected to receive the 2014 Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award. The Ehrlich Award is given annually to recognize one senior faculty member in the nation for exemplary leadership in advancing students’ civic learning, supporting community engagement, and contributing to the public good. The Communication Department has said goodbye to Machmer Hall and South College and has moved to the brand-new Integrative Learning Center (ILC).  Located due north of the campus pond, the ILC is a state-of-the-art academic building and now houses the Communication, Journalism, and Linguistics Departments and the Interdepartmental Film Studies Program. Ph.D. candidate Mike Alvarez has just been awarded a prestigious Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans.
