Bio
Cecilia is a PhD Candidate whose research interests include Chinese digital parenting, adolescents’ media use and well-being, media literacy, and youth culture. Her work is situated at the intersection between cultural studies and media effect paradigms and studies young people’s engagement with media using both qualitative methods, such as interviews, and textual analysis, and quantitative methods, such as survey and content analysis. She has a passion for community-engaged and participatory action research.

(2024) Deconstructing gender and media: A mixed methods study with U.S. early adolescents
Her recent publication has appeared in Journal of Children and Media, International Journal of Communication, Journal of Media Literacy Education, and The Communication Review. She has also contributed to a chapter focused on media literacy in Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Communication.
