Parking and Lift-Equipped Shuttles for Guests with Disabilities
To minimize the need to travel long distances, guests with limited mobility should be dropped off at one of the designated bus stops regularly serviced by shuttle buses. Guests with HP or V plates/placards or drivers escorting guests with limited mobility may complete the Reserved Accessible Parking Form to request the closest parking available to the stadium. Spaces are limited and preference will be given to those with HP or V plates/placards who register first.
Golf-carts will be available near the reserved accessible parking area before and after the ceremony, to assist guests with limited mobility get to and from the stadium and parking area.
Complete the Reserved Accessible Parking Form by April 19, 2019 to request parking for guests with disabilities. You will receive email confirmation of your parking request and a parking pass and information packet will be mailed to you.
Seating for Guests with Disabilities
Reserved wheelchair seating on the field is available.Guests needing wheelchairs must make arrangements to bring their own; wheelchairs are not provided. Wheelchairs can often be rented from a local medical supply store in your community, but are not available from the University. Folding chairs will be available at the rear of the field for ambulatory guests who cannot climb stairs.
Sign Language or Oral Interpreters
If you or any of your guests require the services of a sign language interpreter, please contact Disability Services via email at firstname.lastname@example.org with “Commencement Interpreter Request” in the subject line. The deadline for requesting interpreter services is April 19.
The lot adjacent to the Mullins Center is designated for handicap parking. Officers will be on duty during the event to help direct traffic to those specific areas. A state-issued handicapped parking permit suffices for parking in designated accessible spaces on campus. No prior arrangements are needed to ensure handicapped parking.
Preferential Guest Seating
These seats are generally for people who have limited mobility, sight, or hearing. Seating for family members and guests with disabilities will be available in designated sections of the Mullins Center. No prior arrangements need to be made to secure seating in these areas, although it is recommended that you arrive early to secure seating. One companion may accompany guests seated in these sections. Seating for additional family members should be available within close proximity of the preferential seating areas.

Wheelchair entry into Stockbridge Hall is located on the south side of the building. Lift equipped van service will be available upon request. Please call 413-545-2086 for reservations.

The deadline for requesting such accommodations is Friday, April 19, 2019.

Any guest who does not have a Handicap placard or plate but will be transporting an elderly or disabled guest may sign up for a reserved accessible parking form which can be used in Lot 11 for the main UMass Commencement on Friday, May 10th and in any handicap parking spot near any of the senior recognition ceremony venues on Friday, May 10th or Saturday, May 11th. Parking is first come, first served.
