Undergraduate Commencement on May 8, 2020

Disability Services
Guests with HP plates/placards and drivers escorting guests with limited mobility may complete the Reserved Accessible Parking Form by April 17, 2020 to request parking closest to the stadium or to the senior recognition ceremony venue (guests will receive an email confirmation of their parking request and a parking pass with information will be mailed to their address). Golf carts will be available near the reserved accessible parking area before and after the ceremony to assist guests with limited mobility get to and from the stadium and the parking area. Spaces are limited and preference will be given to those with HP plates/placards who register first. Guests with limited mobility can also be dropped off at one of the designated bus stops, regularly serviced by shuttle buses.

Seating for Guests with Disabilities
Reserved wheelchair seating on the field is available. Wheelchairs can be rented from a local medical supply store in your community, but are not available at the University. Folding chairs will be available at the rear of the field for ambulatory guests who cannot climb stairs. 

Sign Language or Oral Interpreters
If you or any of your guests require the services of a sign language interpreter, please contact Disability Services at aduchon@admin.umass.edu with "Commencement Interpreter Request" in the subject line. The deadline for requesting interpreter services is April 17, 2020.

Senior Recognition Ceremonies on May 8, 2020

Disability Services
Any guest who does not have a Handicap placard/plate, but will be transporting an elderly or disabled guest, may sign up for a Reserved Accessible Parking Form which can be used in Lot 11 for the main UMass Commencement on Friday, May 8 and at any handicap parking spot near the senior recognition ceremony venues on Friday, May 8 or Saturday, May 9. Parking is first come, first served. 

Accessible Parking
When arriving on campus you will be directed to the Handicap parking lot closest to the venue of your ceremony. Please visit the website of your graduate's Senior Recognition Ceremony for details on location and parking. At the conclusion of your Senior Recognition Ceremony, guests with limited mobility may take a shuttle to the stadium, or drive their vehicles to Lot 11 where they will be directed to accessible parking area. Please note, due to increased traffic, travel between venues will take extra time.

If you or your guests require the services of a sign language interpreter or captioning, please contact Disability Services at aduchon@admin.umass.edu with "Recognition Communications Request" in the subject line. The deadline for requesting such accommodations is April 17, 2020.

Graduate Commencement on May 8, 2020

Accessible Parking
The lot adjacent to the Mullins Center is designated for handicap parking and officers will be on duty during the event to help direct traffic to those specific areas. A state-issued HP parking permit suffices for parking in designated accessible spaces on campus and no additional arrangements are necessary.

Preferential Guest Seating
These seats are generally for those with limited mobility, sight, or hearing. No prior arrangements need to be made to reserve seating in the preferential seating designated areas, although it is recommended that guests arrive early to secure seating. Guests seated in the designated sections can be accompanied by one person. Seating for additional family members should be available within close proximity of the preferential seating areas.

Wheelchairs
Designated wheelchair seating locations are available at every internal entrance to the Mullins Center arena. Guests needing wheelchairs need to make arrangements to rent them (wheelchairs can be rented from a local medical supply store in your community).

Stockbridge Commencement on May 9, 2020

Disability Services
Wheelchair entry into Stockbridge Hall is located on the south side of the building. Lift-equipped van service will be available upon request. Please call 413-545-2086 for reservations.
