Outstanding Student Award Nominations

Do you know a graduating undergraduate student who has made outstanding contributions to the CMASS and UMass community over the course of their college career? Do you want to recognize them for their efforts and reward them for going above and beyond their responsibilities as a student? Here is your chance!

CMASS will be honoring multiple students at the Annual Senior Recognition Reception for their commitment and contributions in various areas of CMASS. Each award will be given to 2 individuals or groups.

All nomination forms must be received by April 9, 2021.

Awards Available for Nomination

 

CMASS Pride/Commitment Award
This award is given to a student leader for their demonstrated "spirit" through a long-standing involvement in CMASS programming and events.
Criteria:

  1. Student is affiliated with CMASS
  2. Student is a leader with demonstrated "spirit" through a long-standing involvement in CMASS programming and events.
  3. Student promotes CMASS events and programs to others.

 

Cross-Cultural Consciousness Award
This award is presented to a student or student group who has improved the campus climate by working together to present a program(s) of lasting impact that increases awareness and understanding of different cultures in the campus community and provides opportunities for cross-cultural exchange.
Criteria:

  1. Student or student group has improved the campus climate working to present programming of lasting impact.
  2. Student or student gr oup helps to increase the campuscommunity's awareness and understanding of different cultures and provides opportunities for cross-cultural exchange.

 

Quiet Influence/Unsung Hero Award
This award recognizes a student or student groups that put their heart and soul into everything they do but their effort goes unrecognized. They may work "behind the scenes" and often goes above and beyond expectations.
Criteria:

  1. Student or student group is affiliated with CMASS.
  2. Student or student group puts their heart and soul into everything they do but their effort often goes unrecognized.
  3. Student or student group may work "behind the scenes" and often goes above and beyond expectations.

 

Social Justice Award
This award is given to a student leader who has shown a commitment to social justice through education, participation, and action. The student who receives this award has made efforts to educate themselves and others on social justice issues on campus and/or in the community and has shown evidence of a significant impact on addressing power, privilege, and discrimination to foster inclusion and social justice in society.
Criteria:

  1. Student is an undergraduate student.
  2. Student has demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of marginalized people through their work and engagement around social justice initiatives on campus and/or in the community.
  3. Student has made an effort to educate themselves and others on social justice issues.
  4. Student has participated in intergroup dialogue courses, community action and organizing, and/or engagement in community service through a Registered Student Organization (RSO).
  5. Student has shown evidence of significant impact addressing power, privilege, and discrimination to foster inclusion and social justice in society.
