About the JWECC
The Josephine White Eagle Cultural Center is named in honor of Dr. Josephine White Eagle for her advocacy and mentorship of Native students and her instrumental role in developing a Native American Cultural Center at UMass Amherst. Its first home was in Knowlton Residence Hall and in 1993 it was relocated to Chadbourne Residence Hall.
