Teresa Ramsby, professor of Classics at UMass Amherst, received the Barlow-Beach Award for Distinguished Service at the annual meeting of the Classical Association of New England on Saturday, March 22, 2025, held at Yale University. The president of CANE, Thomas J. Howell, an alumnus of the UMass Amherst Classics MAT program, presented the award to her with a speech about her contributions to CANE, to teacher preparation, and to the discipline of Classics. Among those present at the event were more than two dozen graduates and current students from the Classics undergraduate and MAT program. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the organization.
