Main-in donations
Contributions designated for any of our funds may be sent to the classics department office. Every single gift makes a real difference to us. The classics community’s strength has been and always will be in its constituency, not in the size of a particular donation.
To ensure your donation is targeted correctly, please complete the following steps.
- Make your check payable to ‘University of Massachusetts Amherst’.
- Indicate the fund you wish to contribute to on the memo line. (i.e. Gift Fund, Department of Classics; the Henry and Frances Keitel Fund in Classics; or the David F. Grose Memorial Endowment Fund in Classics).
- Send your check to:

Giving opportunities
Gift Fund, Department of Classics
Contributions to the Gift Fund are for general use. These monies are allocated at the discretion of the department’s chair. They provide services and scholarships to students when dollars are not otherwise available. In past years money from the Gift Fund has been used to fund the start-up costs for an endowment fund, to support the travel of our graduate students to conferences, to support the purchase of equipment for the classroom, to fund the purchase of books for the MAT library, to fund lectures, and to provide small stipends for the winners of the Department’s translation contests. These activities greatly enhance the collegiality of the department, improve student and faculty interaction, and stimulate the scholarly exchange of ideas. Give online now »
