Contemporary Reception of Classical Monsters: Workshop and Discussion

co-lead by Professor Ana González-Rivas Fernandez (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, pictured above) and Professor Debbie Felton (UMass Amherst). 

This workshop, which will include a keynote address with Q & A from Professor Fernandez, will provide a collaborative, interdisciplinary learning experience about the role of classical monsters in modern culture. We will draw literary and material evidence from various regions of the ancient Mediterranean and West Asia, such as Mesopotamia, the Levant (including Egypt), and Greece.
