
Sainodin Abantas was one of a group of nine educators brought to CIE as part of an ADB-NFE assisted project in the Bureau of Non-Formal Education in the Philippines. Sainodin represented the now defunct Autonomous region in Muslim Mindanao. While at CIE they studied NFE philosophy and methods, and designed a series of training modules.
Being passionate about public service and armed with his new experience and training gained while he was at CIE, he continued his advocacy of Adult Education and worked with NGOs for the implementation of projects and programs such as ADB-Philippine Nonformal Education Project, Philippine Australian Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao, and the BEAM Access Program, where he had as able to make valuable contributions as a Foreign Assisted NFE/ALS Coordinator.
Before coming to CIE, Sainodin worked with the Department of Education starting in 1994. He was served as a School-in Charge at Pagalongan Elementary School and at the same time as a Non-Formal Education District Coordinator in Wao I District, Division of Lanao del Sur I. Later, as part of his educational advocacy, he established Masiricampo Abantas Memorial Educational Center, Inc. in Marawi City, and served as the founding President from 1997 until 2010.
On a similar note, he worked with LGUs in promoting the welfare of learners in Lanao del Sur I. He was the Chairman of the Provincial Youth Welfare and Sports Planning and Coordinating Committee Office as well as a Consultant of the Office of the Provincial Governor in the Province of Lanao del Sur.
With his passion and dedication to work, he went on to assume several positions in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, Division of Lanao del Sur I. His roles included Education Program Supervisor for Mathematics, Assistant to the Schools Division Superintendent, Division Testing Coordinator, Division DRRM Focal Person, Division Nonformal Education (NFE) Coordinator, Division Education Supervisor I for Alternative Learning System (ALS) and more.
To expand his professional development, he studied Bachelor of Laws (1993) at the Mindanao State University, Main Campus, Marawi City and later went on to receive the degree of Juris Doctor in March 6, 2019.
He was recently designated Chief of School Governance and Operation Division, and is currently the OIC-Assistant Schools Division Superintendent for Secondary Education in the Schools Division of Lanao Del Sur I, Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (MBHTE-BARMM) where he works to further development in the service of Bangsamoro people.
