The CIE community has regular meetings called 'Dialogues' which provide a good opportunity for students to catch up with their classmates, get center updates and also listen to stimulating talks by speakers from both inside and outside the Center.

Trauma Informed Global Resilience (TIGR) seminar series

Beginning in the spring of 2021, CIE in collaboration with the Educator Preparation Office of the College of Education began a series of virtual seminars focusing on trauma exposure and recovery in crisis and conflict education settings. The seminars seek to bear witness to children and families in diverse contexts of trauma exposure and to inform education and intervention for healing and recovery.

CIE Degrees Earned in the 2021-2022 Academic Year

This year UMass returned to in-person graduation ceremonies.  The graduate commencement honored graduates from both the 2019-20 and 2021-22 years since there was no ceremony in spring of 2020.  As a result there were a much larger number of graduates – so many that the ceremony was held in the football stadium.  There were more than 1,000 Master’s graduates in attendance!

Nangyalai Attal Receives Grant from Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors

In Spring 2022 Nangyalai Attal received a research grant from the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) on behalf of its Sponsored Project Echidna Giving. The grant is intended to allow previous Echidna Global Scholars to continue their research in their home countries.
