Steve Grant returned to Amherst and came by Montague House where he joined Ash Hartwell and DRE for a discussion of old times. Steve spoke of his talks around the country about the Folgers, the subject of his most recent book. All three reflected on CIE in the 1970s and what had become of graduates from that era. 

They then moved on to a discussion of how colonial powers in Africa created elite schools to train leaders but chiefs had often sent slaves or low-level students rather than their sons to such schools - leading to interesting status reversals afterwards. Steve was in town to attend a reunion of french majors at Amherst College.
