Nangyalai Attal was one of 12 Fellows selected in 2016 by the Asia Foundation for its Development Fellows program.  In April 2018 the Asia Foundation sponsored a gathering of Development Fellows from all five cohorts in Singapore, which Nangyalai attended. 

Attal reported that

The Forum in Singapore on Leadership for Asia's Future went very well. Over 50 extraordinary emerging young leaders participated in the program. All of them Development Fellows for the Asia Foundation past five years. There was a lot of energy and hope shared among all participants who are at the frontline of change.  Emerging challenges in education, governance, women empowerment... were discussed.

After the workshop, Attal traveled to Afghanistan where he will be working for the summer before returning to UMass in the fall.
