M. Iqbal Halimi

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world - Nelson Mandela.

I am from Afghanistan and I strongly believe that the only way we can transform chaos into good governance and efficient management in fragile states is to replace war, guns and discrimination with pens and books, friendship, love, tolerance and cooperation.

Education is my passion. For over 13 years, I have worked in education, in diverse workplaces with vulnerable children and youth, particularly girls and women in Afghanistan. My work has centred on development-focused literacy, community-based education and teacher training.

While working for the development and implementation of programs in basic education, I was also studying at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in political science and public administration. I also earned an advanced certificate in Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) from the University of South Africa.

I have achieved my short- and mid-term professional goals, and I am now working to reach my long-term goal. I strongly believe that CIE can help me to achieve it: to become a key leader in the field of education project management and administration. My goal is to lead, design, implement, manage and monitor affordable and gender-responsive education models that will help developing countries to meet their Sustainable Development Goals in universal education.
