Michael Tjivikua

I am currently Director of Research at the Namibia Institute of Public Administration and Management. My responsibilities include designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring research projects to support the civil service agenda and national developmental priorities. I also work with various agencies and organizations in the field of education on projects and initiatives aimed at reforming and improving the system at various levels.

From 2004 to 2016, I was the founding Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Namibia University of Science and Technology. The Center was established to help improve teaching and learning on campus through academic development initiatives. The center was established to help improve teaching and learning on campus through academic development initiatives. It is focused on providing support to students and faculty.

During my tenure there, I created an academic support system for the university which hosts an Academic Support Center that provides services to students. As was the main focus, I also developed a series of support activities for faculty development and implementing best practices with the main goal being the provision of quality teaching and learning across the institution.  The Center was the first in the Sub-Saharan region to implement instructional technology and develop online courses.
