Majid Khan

Majid Khan is currently a Director at the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) in Islamabad, Pakistan. His role involves strategic management, administration and educational outreach, including development and implementation of educational programs with national and international centers and organizations.

 

He is also co-PI on a research project on high performance work systems funded by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

 

Prior to this, Majid spent 5 years as Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Sciences at COMSATS University, Islamabad, teaching courses in development policies, project management, and organizational development. He also supervised Master’s students and managed research projects.

 

Majid returned to Pakistan in March 2009 after completing his doctoral degree at CIE. He served as Deputy Director with a USAID-funded Pre-Service Teacher Education project implemented by Michigan State University. Based in Islamabad, he worked with the Faculties of Education of 15 participant universities spread all over Pakistan, supporting infrastructure development and selecting 60 PhD students that were to be sent to 16 US universities. “The work was exciting,” said Majid. “I learned quite a few things and I got to travel all over Pakistan and meet lots of hardworking and dedicated people.”

 

During his doctoral studies at CIE, Majid also worked as a Community Director in the Department of Higher Education Administration at Colorado State University, Fort Collins. [2/17]
