Elena Khatskevich Nuciforo

Elena received her Master of Education degree at the UMass Center for International Education through an Edmund Muskie Fellowship provided by the US Department of State to the countries of the former Soviet Union. Elena came to CIE in 2000 from the city of Ulan-Ude in Eastern Siberia where she was a lecturer of English at Buryat State University.

 

After completing her Master of Education, Elena returned to Russia to work as a program manager at the Center for Communication Programs of Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Moscow.

 

In 2014, Elena received a PhD in communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She then worked as a visiting assistant professor at Florida International University in Miami from 2014 to 2016.

 

In 2016 she returned to UMass Amherst where she now teaches public health at the School of Public Health and Health Sciences. She also collaborates with Berkshire Community College where she is helping to develop a certificate for community health workers and an Associate Degree in Health Science with a focus on community health. Her main research and professional interests lie in community health, health communication, experiential learning and intercultural collaboration.

 

Elena lives in Pittsfield, MA with her husband and their two sons Eric and Maxim.
