Catherine Bachy

After graduating from UMASS with a M.Ed. from CIE, my partner (now wife) Peg Giffels (UMass M.Ed. 1993) and I moved to Seattle and have grown roots here.  I taught ESL in the Seattle area Community College system for a couple of years.  Then I joined Starbucks Coffee Company to assist in the development of the Starbucks Foundation’s literacy and young entrepreneurs’ grant program.  I enjoyed a ten year career at Starbucks and was part of the creation of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Department.

In 2008 I left Starbucks and went back to graduate school full time at Seattle University and earned a Masters in Organizational Leadership.  I developed my own Executive Coaching and Consulting practice which included the University of Washington as one of my clients

Two years ago the Professional & Organizational Department of the University of Washington invited me to join their group of internal consultants.  I work with individual University leaders and their teams on communication, conflict management, strategic planning, and other areas related to organizational effectiveness.  I also teach courses in Leadership skill development and am now called to facilitate and coach in the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

My wife, Peg, works as an educational content designer and editor at Salesforce.  Our daughter, Ari, now 17, is an avid soccer player, gamer, and artist.  Here is a picture of us taken in 2017 in front of our house.  [3-21]
